Ariana Grande Speaks Up For Animals

In addition to helping stray dogs and cats find loving homes, Grande regularly uses her platform to speak up for animals.

In November 2013, she revealed on Twitter that she had gone vegan. “I’ve eaten organically since I was little and always kept meat minimal but today marks my first day as a 100% Vegan!!!! Joyous day,” she tweeted.

“Almost everybody thinks you need to have meat for protein. Protein, protein, protein! And what’s in dairy? Calcium, calcium, calcium,” she told E Online. “It’s those kinds of proteins that latch onto the insides of your bloodstream and make it easier for you to have a heart attack.”

She later raved about the benefits of being vegan in an interview with Mirror. “I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-around happier person,” she said.

And Grande has even used her platform to speak out against animals in captivity. “I used to love Sea World,” she told the NY Daily News. “I thought the animals were safe and happy. Then I learned what happened—that they’re taken out of their habitat and kidnapped. It breaks my heart. They’re not ours. Throw them back!”
