Katy Perry and her beloved dog Nugget are ready to go vegan after spending the past four months transitioning to a vegan diet.

Singer and new mum Katy Perry is joining hundreds of thousands of people in going vegan this January as she admits she’s ready to take the plunge and go 100% vegan.
Taking a positive outlook on life, Perry recently revealed that she wants ‘to continue to be open to better’, and this appears making big changes to her diet and lifestyle by going vegan.
On Saturday, the pop superstar announced that she is ready to become a full-time vegan after transitioning to a plant-based diet over the past four months.
She told her 109 million followers on Twitter: “I’m about 95% ready to be 100% VEGAN…'” and asked for fans to offer their support.
Inspired by the singer, one fan replied that they would also try going vegan too, saying: “You inspired me! I will try to be vegan too!! Go vegan!”
Tweeting their support, another wrote: “Congrats katy!!!! Thank you for making an educated decision about health, the environment and animals. I hope you like but remember you don’t always need to hold yourself to that 100% unless you really want to!”
Katy has been sharing some seriously tasting vegan meals on Instagram recently, and thanking the Earth for providing us with an abundance of plant-based foods to eat.

Perry isn’t the only one in the family who is going vegan either as she hinted that her beloved pooch Nugget has also been enjoying a more plant-based diet alongside her.
She told followers that ““My dog Nugget has been joining me on this journey for the past 4 months”, which sparked a fierce debate among her followers.
Expressing their concern, a Twitter user wrote: “I hope nugget has only been joining you for emotional support! Dogs shouldn’t be vegan, so please continue providing their necessary requirements!”
“This is amazing!! Dogs should not be vegan, though! Their dietary needs are very different from those of humans”, wrote another fan.
Another person expressed their apprehension over her decision saying: “Don’t put your dietary choices on your dog. If you want a vegan pet, get a rabbit. Unless your vet has diagnosed an allergy to all meat protein sources, feed your dog a balanced, feeding-trial proven diet.”
Can dogs eat a vegan diet?
For many vegans, deciding what to feed our companion animals can be a contentious issue with many unsure as to whether a do can survive and thrive without meat as they are omnivores.
According to animal rights charity PETA, dogs can follow a plant-based diet with ‘the right planning and care.’ However, it is vital that owners ‘ensure that their nutritional requirements are met’, as is true of dogs following a non-vegan diet too.
Racing champion Lewis Hamilton recently came under fire for praising a vegan diet for his dog. According to the plant-based athlete, putting his dog Roscoe on vegan pet food ‘changed his life’ and improved various ailments his four-legged friend was suffering from.
Animal rights organisation PETA praised the star’s decision to transition her and Nugget to a vegan diet, saying: “Wonderful news! We’re SO happy for you—and for Nugget, too. You’ll both love how it feels eating clean and helping animals.”
